Prophet Summary: Micah 4-5

by PastorWilliams on January 23rd, 2017

Micah turns his prophecy in chapter 4 to the restoration of Israel and Mount Zion as the highest of all mountains. The holiest place in the world. This correlates well with Isaiah 2. All the nations will go to the LORD’s mountains.

This will only happen when God rescues His people from all nations. He will bring them to Zion, His holy hill. On Judgment Day, all nations will rise and see God’s glories as He shows His salvation.

Chapter 5 begins with this salvation. The prophecy of the Christ’s birth in Bethlehem comes from these first couple of verses. The ruler whose scepter would never leave David’s house (Genesis 49:10; 2 Samuel 7:16).

The rest of chapter 5 provides the assurance once again that even though the Assyrians are coming, God will save a remnant of His people that will return to Israel after their exile. When they return, God will be with them and they will rebuild and again be heralded as His people.
