Prophet Summary: Micah 6-7

by PastorWilliams on January 23rd, 2017

Micah 6 covers God’s indictment of His people: “O My people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you?” He answers with His requirements: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Because the wicked will not do justice, they will not love kindness, they will not walk humbly, they will be destroyed because God is just, kind and humble.

Chapter 7 pictures exactly what our sinful human nature will do if it is given free reign on the earth: “There is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net.” This should make us ashamed, but it often simply encourages us to go further into our sin. But Micah ends his prophecy with the picture of the great depth of God’s love, “pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of His inheritance.”
