Ramadan 24

Today’s Text: Sura 39.32-41.46 (http://www.trinityslayton.net/ramadan/quran.pdf, pages 251-261)

Sura 39, “az-Zumar” (The Crowds)

On Judgment Day, Allah will send all sinners to Hell in great crowds (39.71). This is very similar to Jesus’ statement about the path to Hell being broad and many making their way there (Matthew 7:13-14).

Sura 40, “al-Mu-min” (The Believer)

While this Sura is called “The Believer,” it has a gruesome picture of Hell (40.46-50). In Islam, everyone is accountable for his or her own actions regardless of whether they were a leader or a follower. Everyone gets the same penalty in Hell.

Sura 41, “Ha-Mim Sajda” or “Fussilat” (Explained in Detail)

Allah abrogates the original statement that he created the world in six days by saying he created it in two (41.9). However, this gets abrogated later again to the original statement.
