Classic Moment of Meditation: El Olam (Genesis 21:33)

by PastorWilliams on October 27th, 2017

Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba
and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.
(Genesis 21:33)

El Olam (Everlasting God)

El Olam, “Everlasting God,” is a very rare name for God. In fact, it only occurs twice in the Old Testament. First, Abraham calls upon the name of YHWH, El Olam. Second, Isaiah reminds Israel that YHWH is El Olam, the Everlasting God, “the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable” (40:28).

God is the God of eternity. He always has been. He always will be. There’s no getting around it. He’s here. And He’s here for you. Through Jesus, He gives you everlasting life. You too will live forever because the Triune God is the Everlasting God. Have you pondered where your lot will lie in eternity? Talk to the Everlasting God and call me if you have any questions. I’m more than happy to answer them if I can. Amen.
